Gala dinner to raise funds for less fortunate children

The gala event will be held at Dube Sun Lifestyle Village Number 10 Opportunity Lane in Bambanani Industrial Park in Ivory Park, Extension 2 on October 14.

Ekur Jozi Family, in partnership with other strategic stakeholders, will host a fund-raising gala event.

The gala event will be held at Dube Sun Lifestyle Village Number 10, Opportunity Lane in Bambanani Industrial Park in Ivory Park, Extension Two on October 14.

The proceedings of the event will go to Tumelo Home – a centre housing children who are mentally and physically handicapped.

Ekur Jozi Family was founded by Praise Mthombeni, who is better known as Praise African child.

Praise Mthombeni, popularly known as Praise African child.

He celebrated his birthday with children from Tumelo Home over the weekend of September 30.

Ekur Jozi Family is a non-profit organisation based in Ivory Park, Extension Two.

“It has always been a dream of mine to celebrate my birthday with the children of Ivory Park, especially the less fortunate and those who are being taken care of at homes around my township. It has come to my attention that the less fortunate children are very big supporters of our careers as artists and some are inspired by our work, but it is hard for them to interact with us because some of them are mentally and physically disabled,” said the 25-year-old Praise.

“This is another way of showing our love and support to these children by organising a fund-raising gala event for them with local groups performing there for free. As an artist who grew up from a poor background, this show seeks to bring hope, happiness and change to the less fortunate children and orphans. It won’t just be a birthday celebration but a benefit show that will ensure they feel appreciated,” he added.

Newcomers in the music industry, Lesego Lady T and Verlton Donardo, will form part of the entertainment line-up set to dazzle the audience for the evening.

“We call upon businesses and individuals to support this initiative by booking tables for the forthcoming gala event, with a table for six being charged at R250.

This gala event is organised under the theme “Raise Your Hand Campaign – the biggest gift that you can give to a disabled child is love”.

Raise your hand and pledge.
