Tembisa-born DJ Sbu headed for the Carousel

Sbu has worked for some of the most influential radio stations in the country.

Tembisa-born DJ Sbu, an inspiring, multi-award winning artist, motivational speaker, entrepreneur and former television presenter, is headed to The Carousel for the first edition of the Home Coming Festival this summer.

BigMTK in collaboration with The Carousel will present DJ Sbu alongside DJ Vitoto of SABC 1 and 2.

Sbu (Sibusiso Leope) was born in Tembisa in 1979 and has become one of the biggest names in Kwaito. He is also believed to be Mzekezeke, the masked kwaito artist, but has never admitted to it.

Among Sbu’s most notable achievements, he recently launched his own energy drink, MoFaya, and has also clinched a show on CNBC Africa in collaboration with Forbes Africa, called Kicking doors with Sbu Leope.

Sbu is known for his role as presenter of the show Friends Like These, and while he does really well as Sbu, Mzekezeke achieves outstandingly too, recently receiving the awards for both artist and song of the year for S’guqa Ngamadolo (dance by going down on both knees) at the South African Music Awards.

Sbu has worked for some of the most influential radio stations in the country, such as YFM and Metro FM. He matriculated from Central Secondary School in Pretoria after which he went on to study sound engineering at African Media University.

He also studied electrical engineering at Technikon Witwatersrand.

Joining Sbu on stage on December 23 will be Hamanskraal’s very own Black Definition, Shaun the Artist, Dj Rayza and many more. Be sure not miss out on this spectacular night at The Carousel’s Nickelodeon and bring your kwaito-loving friends along.

Doors open at 5pm and the show starts at 6pm.

Tickets are available at Computicket and cost R80 single, R150 double, R210 triple. Single tickets purchased at the door on the day of the show will cost R100.
