Local actor (17) to perform at Joburg Theatre
See local girl in action on stage this Friday and Sunday at 7.30pm.
Seventeen-year-old Croydon resident Nhlakanipho Mkongi will do Kempton Park proud this weekend as she hits the Joburg Theatre’s stage.
This aspiring actor will temporarily trade her school uniform for a wicked witch’s costume.
Nipho, as she is known to family and friends, will play Evellin at the annual Festival of the Arts’ main production, The Wiz.

During this week-long festival, the National School of the Arts hosts many productions which are produced and directed by its learners.
Nipho grew up in Isandovale and Tembisa with her grandparents before moving to Croydon and attending Edenglen Primary School where she excelled in athletics and netball.
However, drama was her true passion, which is why she enrolled in the arts school.
Readers can see Nipho in action this Friday and Sunday at 7.30pm. Book at www.joburgtheatre.com or call 0861 670 670.
