Final fund-raising push for Tamzyn to get to China

In January she needed R60 000. Now, she’s only R20 000 away from making her dream a reality.

In January, Express reported on local economics whizz Tamzyn Kraucamp (20) of Esther Park, who needed to raise about R60 000 to attend an entrepreneurship event in China.

By then, she had only raised R2 100. Now, this dedicated third-year North-West University economics student is only R20 000 from making her dream a reality.

To reach her goal, Tamzyn will host a fund-raiser at the Barnyard Theatre at Emperors Palace on March 29. Here, a 10-member cast will star in Solid Gold, performing the 50 songs that were defining moments in music history.

According to Tamzyn, the show will include rock ’n roll hits like Let’s Twist Again and Don’t Stop Believin’. Great South African hits will also be celebrated, including Special Star by Mango Groove. And fans of golden oldies can look forward to Endless Love by Lionel Richie and Diana Ross and Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty.

“Solid Gold celebrates all of the golden song moments that have made us rock, cry and sing along to anthems,” Tamzyn said.

Doors will open at 6.30pm and the show will start at 8pm. Readers interested in buying tickets can contact Tamzyn on 079 827 1919.
