Sing for Joy concert is back

The concerts will take place at St Dunstan's Cathedral on Woburn Avenue in Benoni at 2.30pm and 6.30pm.

The St Dunstan’s Music Foundation will once again stage their Sing for Joy concert on June 9.

This concert will be the foundation’s 16th production, the first having been staged in 2003.

It will once again be produced and directed by Malcolm and Janet Chalmers. Malcolm will be conducting and Janet will do many of the arrangements, as well as playing the organ.

The latest concert, Rhythm of Life, promises to be a most enjoyable concert with a choir of about 70 to 80 members singing familiar sacred and secular numbers. The music will reflect the progress of life from birth through baptism, toddler, school, teenage years, confirmation, young love, marriage, careers, birthday celebrations, Easter, Christmas, times of trouble, seasons, recreation and the autumn years to saying our goodbyes.

The choir will be accompanied by a brass band at each performance, as well as guest performances by the St Dunstan’s College choirs and Benoni High School’s award-winning pipe band.

The concerts will take place at St Dunstan’s Cathedral on Woburn Avenue in Benoni at 2.30pm and 6.30pm.

Tickets are available at Daniella’s Jewellers in Farrarmere Square, St Dunstan’s Cathedral or from Barbara Arthur on 011 849 2886 or 083 306 8130.

There will be a food court between the two performances and during this period entertainment will be provided by the St Dunstan’s musicians.
