Harry and the Gupta saunter into Carnival City
The show takes the audience on a hilarious journey
South African entertainment legends, Vikash Mathura and Jack Devnarain, have teamed up on stage for the first time ever with their hysterical comedy show Harry & the Gupta.
They are bringing the tour to Carnival City in September. The two have been friends for over 30 years and have shared a mutual admiration for each other’s work but have never collaborated on a project like this before.
In Harry & the Gupta, Mathura, of Peru & Bala fame, reprises his role of Harr”, a brash Durban entrepreneur who has become a favourite among many theatre patrons. Devnarain, of Isidingo fame, plays the suave and infamous businessman Rajesh Gupta, a character that has not exactly endeared himself to the South African public.
The show is set in the mythical Saxonwold Shebeen, where the story begins with Harry meeting Rajesh for the first time. Their chance encounter results in a series of comic misunderstandings.
The show takes the audience on a hilarious journey as these protagonists discuss anecdotes from their respective lives.
Don’t miss Harry & the Gupta at Carnival City on September 7 and 8 at 8pm. Tickets at R120 are available at Computicket.
