Tembisa resident nominated for SAMA awards

KHAVISA nominated for #SATMA13 award.

Tembisa based Xitsonga musician Khavisa has been nominated for the #SATMA13 award.

Khavisa, born Linton Makhense, is appealing to the Tembisa community to vote for him.

“Vote for me in the category of best Xitsonga album of the year.

“To vote, SMS SATMA251 to 33888.

“I’m promoting our Tsonga language and that forms part of my dreams; to put my language on the map,” said Khavisa.

He hails from Limpopo at Shikundu village where he was a leader of a church worship team.

“When I was a teenager I won many local competitions in singing and dancing and that led me to become an artist. I released my first gospel album at the age of 15. It was titled Ekhosi ekhona. After that, I released three Gospel albums.

Khavisa promotes Xitsonga music.

“After passing my matric I relocated to Jozi in pursuit of opportunities and I got as a job as an assistant operator at a pharmacy,” Khavisa remembers.

In 2014, Khavisa switched to traditional Xitsonga music and he said that is where he met a famous producer named Prince Rhangani.

“That was the time when I recorded my first Tsonga debut album titled Ncino Wa Xisahari.

“Through God’s mercy the album had a massive reception and I wanted to release more albums.

“Rock Khavisa is an album that made me more famous and my name was in newspapers, on TV and on radio stations.

“One thing I promise my fans is that they won’t be disappointed,” Khavisa promised.

Xi ni werile album was released in 2016 and it is still selling in music stores.
