Portuguese festival opens at Emperors Palace

Taste of Portugal takes place from September 20 to 24 at the Red Roman Shed

Indulge in the sights, sounds and smells of Portugal without even having to leave the city.

Taste of Portugal, taking place from September 20 to 24 at the Red Roman Shed at Emperors Palace, is a five-day-long festival of fun, celebrating the culture and cuisine of Portugal.

The festival has plenty on offer for foodies, from live cooking shows by renowned chefs Chakall and Mimi Jardim, to a wide variety of authentic Portuguese cuisine, courtesy of MUNDUS restaurant.

Visitors also stand a chance to win a brand new Mitsubishi ASX by sms’ing their name and ticket number to 079 497 1233. Terms and conditions are available on the Taste of Portugal Facebook page and the winner will be announced on the page on December 22.

In addition, art and fashion will be on display, inspired by the beauty and eccentricity of Portugal, where visitors can browse and shop for bargains at their hearts’ content.

The fun doesn’t stop there – Tex Fonseca will also perform his fusion of Portuguese, Brazilian and African music.

The festival will be open daily from 10am to 8pm and tickets are R85 adults, R40 children aged six to 12 years and R65 pensioners. Free entry for children under the age of six.
