A Christmas wonderland captured the hearts of children and grownups alike at the opening of The Garden of Lights at Emperors Palace on Wednesday evening.
Since its inception 12 years ago, this light extravaganza in the gardens of the Dóreale Grande Hotel has become the Christmas highlight on the Kempton Park calendar and takes four months to prepare and perfect.
To add to the Christmas spirit, all proceeds of the event go to charity.
According to the man behind the magic, Peermont COO Bob Yearham, tremendous care and dedication go into the success of The Garden of Lights.
“Thank you to all the friends, past and present, for attending,” Yearham said. “Thank you to everyone who works behind the scene to make sure that the tradition is upheld and improved each year.”
The picturesque spectacle includes characters such as fairy princesses, Mrs Claus and Olaf the snowman. Children will also be excited to hear that Santa and his helpers are more than happy to pose for photographs.

Other entertainment includes singers performing Christmas favourites, a magician and a funfair with rides to choose from.
The Garden of Lights is a magical creation that will transport the entire family to a world without worries. This event is not to be missed.
The Garden of Lights will be open November 30until January 2 next year. Tickets are R25 per person or R100 for a family of five. Pre-bookings on Emperors Palace’s website are strongly advised.
