Themba hosts Midrand kota festival

Kota festival at Ivory Park.

Themba “Waves” Mhlaba, event organiser, hosted the second annual Midrand Kota Carnival at Ivory Park Kopanong Sports Ground on September 28.

The event showcased kasi flavoured kota menus and local musicians kept the audience entertained. According to Mhlaba, the event aimed at bringing people together to taste different flavours on the table.

“This event is special because it is the first of its kind in Midrand and it’s hosted right at the heart of Ivory Park. We were able to bring people out of the suburbs and into the neighbourhood to give them something different to remember,” said Mhlaba.

Mhlaba added that at next year’s event, people can expect bigger stalls with bigger kotas on the table.

“We are planing on bringing one of SA’s biggest artist. We are just finalising details, but it’s going to be massive.

“Through this event, we created a platform for many business people to showcase their food businesses and for artists to perform and showcase their talent,” Mhlaba said.

The line-up included Ivory Parks’s finest, Fakzo De Mc, DJ Smart T and MaTwinz to name a few. People enjoyed themselves with snacks, food and drinks.

Fakzo De Mc said the crowd was great to perform for and that he was grateful for doing what he loved on stage.

“In events like these, we expect a much bigger crowd. However, this crowd was receptive. Next year, we are going bigger,” said Fackzo De Mc.
