Cindy dazzles all around her

Cindy Brits, broker/owner of RE/MAX Dazzle, feels passionate about her business, agents and community involvement.
Fundraising plays a huge role in her life.
She started as an estate agent in 2004 and later joined the RE/MAX Dazzle management team. Today she enjoys the thrills of being a partner in the business since 2011.
Cindy was an International Chairman’s Club Award winner in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and received the coveted RE/MAX Hall of Fame Award in 2008. In 2007 her team was recognised as the #9 Team Worldwide.
She’s also the owner of the Diva Network in Kempton Park which hosts monthly networking meetings for local business women. The network shares ideas, referrals and build relationships and friendships. It has been a huge success since inception and many local business women look forward to the monthly networking sessions.
Cindy and her husband formed the Dazzle Foundation at the end of 2012. The RE/MAX Dazzle real estate company, together with a large percentage of their agents, contribute to the foundation each month which enables the foundation to help local organisations and projects.
Cindy devotes a large portion of her time to various institutions in the area. Raising awareness of Motor Neurone Disease (MND ALS) is very close to her heart, having lost her mother to ALS MND on April 22 last year. It is the same disease that claimed the life of rugby legend Joost van der Westhuizen.
In her career as broker/owner, her office RE/MAX Dazzle has been the #1 single office in South Africa since 2012. The office has also won the #1 office international award twice in the past four years.
Together with her husband Neville Brits they have won multiple broker/owners of the year awards.
Cindy’s passion is to not just make a difference in her office but in the community as well. She works hard to stay number one, train and mentor agents on a daily basis. She’s also a qualified 100 Days to Greatness and Peak Producers Mentor and facilitator which is the next level training available, exclusive to RE/MAX.
As Margaret Mead quotes: Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.
We ‘house’ the best Real Estate Agents in Kempton Park, and if you want to be part of this dynamic team, feel free to talk to Cindy.

She is a successful woman in a man’s world

“BUSINESS IS SIMPLE, PEOPLE COMPLICATE IT !”

A woman running a business in a man’s world could be challenging, however Linda Thompson took the bull by the horns and aimed high.

Thompson started in the administrative department of an electrical wholesaler, coming from the corporate world with no prior experience at all of the electrical wholesale industry.
Whilst in this position, she taught herself the ins and outs of the business and associated electrical products.  She became manager and took the company from strength to strength.

In 2016, an opportunity knocked on the door when she was offered a three-way Directorship by two dear customers and PA SUPPLIES was born.  “It was a decision I made to better myself and felt I gained sufficient knowledge in order to tackle this new venture” said Thompson.  As this was a brand new company, Thompson took on the task of building the complete inventory and infrastructure of the company.  PA Supplies was run solely by Thompson for the first 4 months.  In January of 2017, she employed an administrative lady, Melinize Fuhri, to assist with admin and sales, in April of that year, Jovan Botha joined to assist with the growing orders and deliveries and in August of 2017, an experienced Scott Schoeman joined in the sales department to bring the staff compliment to 4 employees.  In 2018, a junior employee, Seth Wolke, joined assisting in the stores and also with the logistics.  “Having a staff compliment of 5 in itself felt like an accomplishment, said Thompson.”

Competition is tough in this industry, however building healthy partnerships with customers and major distributors leaves you in a position to be competitive and pushes you to work harder and smarter.  She enjoys interacting with people, whether colleagues or customers, as to her, business is all about relationships.  “I mentor my staff by telling them that mistakes are the best way to learn, without past failures, I wouldn’t be the person I am today”, says Thompson.

PA Supplies is located on Pomona Road in Pomona and provides electrical supplies to industrial and commercial businesses and domestic households.  They service power stations, mines and domestic projects and have supplied projects as far Natal, Cape Town and Swaziland.

Betsie Jacobs

With only R5 in her pocket to put petrol in her car, Betsie Jacobs went to work as an estate agent at Curries Estates, at that time the largest company in South Africa with 21 branches.

The reason for the R5 was because her husband Johan refused her to be an estate agent with long hours while her children were still small.

She decided to borrow R5 from petty cash. With this in hand, she sold a home on her first day. The second day she borrowed another R5 and sold the second house.

Only then she admitted to Johan what happened during the past two days, and if you know Betsie, he had no further say.

Betsie was hooked on her job.

With not a lazy bone in her body and with a warm, friendly personality, while at the same time being an insightful businesswoman with a high degree of integrity, Betsie set her sights high.

With a deep faith in God, this Sunday school teacher broke all records for property sales in Kempton Park.

Within the first year, she was the holder of a Millionaire’s Badge and a Golden Certificate of Merit for outstanding performance. In a letter received from the MD of Curries, he stated: “Off-hand I cannot think of any property negotiator in the entire group who has ever come near your tremendous sales records.”

The letter was such a blessing and motivated Betsie to set herself even higher standards.

She left no stone unturned, even when the bond situation was critical during 1981/1982.

Early in 1983, Betsie decided to go it alone and opened her own business, Pick a Home Estates. Her husband joined her in the new venture. With a well-founded knowledge of the financial world, Johan contributed a great deal to the success of their agency.

During 1986 they bought the building where their offices are still situated today.

There is no secret to her success, except hard work, determination, honesty, friendliness and cooperation.

This live-wire sales executive never allowed her phenomenal success to go to her head.

While it is no longer the case of selling 27 houses a month, Betsie has been able to keep her agency afloat with sheer determination.

It is with great appreciation to the people of Kempton Park that she celebrates her 40th year as a Kempton Park businesswoman this year.

Betsie still has time for hobbies such as flowers and singing. She has won various prizes and gold medals for flower arranging in South Africa as well as overseas. She is described as a mastermind in flower arranging.

She is now looking forward to a floral show in Pietermaritzburg in September, and thereafter she will be off to Japan to compete in a world show.

Betsie’s motto: “Winning isn’t everything, it is the only thing.”
