GALLERY: Sedan United Development team crowned tournament champs

The tournament was an initiative of SAPS and Built It as the main sponsor, where they were doing a crime awareness campaign through sports.

Sedan United Development Team was recently crowned the Build it and SAPS Development Tournament champions in Dan Village.

The event hosted a number of local teams within the Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) area.

The team from Sedan Village just outside Lestitele won all their five games only with 11 players without any reserves.

They took the crown after smashing Leretjeng Development Team 4-3 in the finals through penalties.

“I’m happy with my boys because we managed to win without any substitute. When we went to the game we didn’t have believe that we would win because of the limited number of players. However our hope was restored as during the games we kept on winning against the other teams,” said Paddy Mohale, Sedan United Development Team Coach.

GTM Mayor, Maripe Mangena and ward councillors were among the guests who honoured the event.

Mangena said sports is an instrument which helps to keep youngsters away from crime hence he is supporting the youth to be more active in sports.

Build It Brand Ambassador, Zain Patel who is also a soccer freestyler from Johannesburg was also present to motivate the soccer players where he also entertained the spectators with his freestyling moves.

The top three teams were given prizes which included small trophies, soccer bags, water bottles, sooccer kits and soccer boots and many others gifts.
