Limpopo MTB championship series ends in Haenertsburg
After a year in which cycling events were almost nonexistent, the Limpopo MTB Cross Country Mountain Biking Championships is coming to Stanford Lake College in Haenertsburg on 29 May.
This will be the final event in the four-part series, with cyclists competing for the title of Limpopo Champion in their category as well as for Limpopo colours, which are earned over the course of the series.
Several local cyclists will be participating and the fight for Limpopo Colours.
Two students from Stanford Lake College are currently leading the way in their categories: Gordon Noel (Sub-Junior boys) and Gunther Katzke (Junior men).
Another student, Herman Fourie, will also be racing for a podium finish.

Also from Tzaneen, Billy Noel is currently leading the Veterans Men category.
In the ladies’ races, local cyclists fighting it out for the podium include Sophia van Wyk (Sub-Junior girls) and Anke Rood (Youth girls).
The event is sponsored by local businesses, Insect Science (which also sponsors two of the contestants – Gunther Katzke and Herman Fourie), Miami Canners, BF Fuels and Letaba Networks, as well as various smaller sponsors providing prizes and support – including Merensky, Du Paint and ClemenGold. Riders from as young as six– and with no upper age limit – will compete against others in their age group for Limpopo colours at the end of the series.
