UPDATE: Manhunt for cash-in transit suspects

A massive manhunt by various police units in the Tzaneen Cluster is still on for a group of around 30 armed suspects attacked and robbed a cash security car an undisclosed amount of money last Wednesday morning.

According to the police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, the incident happened at about 04:00 along the Tarrentaal and Nwamitwa road near Bushvalley.

The suspects which were travelling in more than six vehicles led by a black BMW-X5 with a blue light on top, attacked two cash vehicles by shooting randomly with rifles until one car overturned injuring two security guards seriously.

The other car was shot on the wheels until it went off the road and boxes of money were taken.

The injured security guards were admitted to hospital with serious injuries while the other two who were in the cash car escaped unharmed and no one was killed.

The suspects are still unknown and there is no arrest.

Police investigations are still continuing.
