13 injured after weekend accidents in Tzaneen

Thirteen people were injured in two separate car crashes in the Tzaneen area in Limpopo in the early hours of Saturday morning.

“One of the incidents took place on the R71 Wolkberg Drive on the way out of Tzaneen heading towards Letsitele,” ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said.

ER24 paramedics and other services arrived on the scene and found that a bakkie and a car had collided.

The bakkie apparently went up an embankment and rolled. Several of the occupants were ejected. The car was found on the side of the road.

Upon assessment of the people on the scene it was found that four sustained moderate injuries and seven sustained minor injuries.

The patients were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.

The second incident took place on Agatha Road in Tzaneen, Bodasing said.

Two vehicles collided resulting in one person sustaining moderate injuries and another sustaining minor injuries. Both patients were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care.

The cause of both incidents was unknown and authorities were investigating, Bodasing said.
