WARNING: Outcome of trial can lead to protest in Tzaneen

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) is planning to picket at the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Monday to demand ‘justice for victims of race-related attacks’

Two men are facing charges of assault following an alleged race-related attack in Tzaneen and will be appearing in the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

COSATU members are expected to engage in picket action at the court for the duration of the trial.

If the picket is well attended, travel on Morgan Street, Peace Street, Stasie Road and Danie Joubert Street is likely to be affected by heavy foot traffic.

Please avoid these areas for your own safety.

Furthermore, in the event that COSATU is not satisfied with the outcome of the above trial, protest action may materialise at the court which may lead to protest actions.

Businesses located in the vicinity of the court are advised to remain vigilant for unrest and ensure contingency plans are in place as a precautionary measure.
