Scores of people arrested during Operation Basadi

Operation Basadi held by Bolobedu police saw scores of criminals arrested for various criminal activities in the area on Friday.

The Operation Basadi back to basics was held in conjunction with women from Greater Letaba traffic and provincial traffic offices under the command of KD Mohlaola.

A roadblock was conducted at Rapitsi four way stop and another one at Madumeleng. Bolobedu police spokesperson, Constable Millicent Mohale said, 355 motor vehicles and 820 people were searched during the operation.

Mohale said 35 fines were issued for contravening the Road Traffic Act, one suspect was arrested for possession of dagga, one for breaking into a business, one for theft, one for obstructing law enforcement officers while performing their duties, one for selling liquor without a license, one for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, one for assault, three for gambling in public and they also managed to distribute 350 pamphlets.

Colonel Mohlaola indicated that such operations will continue throughout the month in celebration of women’s month and ensuring that Bolobedu becomes a crime free area.
