BREAKING NEWS: Five rhino ‘poachers’ arrested in Gravelotte

Five suspects aged between 32 and 50 years old were arrested in Gravelotte by the Stock theft unit of the SAPS.

The suspects were arrested on charges of possession of unlicensed fire- arms and ammunition and  conspiracy to commit rhino poaching at a game farm in Gravelotte outside Phalaborwa.

The suspects are from Witbank in Mpumalanga, Nkowankowa outside Tzaneen and one from Mozambique.

They were found in possession of a 375 hunting rifle with a silencer. Nine 375 rounds of ammunition, a  . 357 revolver with 25 rounds of ammunition.  One axe and nine cellphones. The car they were traveling in had a Gauteng registration number.

‘They will appear before the Namakgale Magistrate Court,’ the police said.

Police investigations are still continuing.
