Man blamed for two girls’ disappearance displaced

Angry community members of Shiawelo RDP section in Giyani displaced a 38 year-old man, together with seven of his family members on Sunday.

This comes after the disappearance of two five year-old girls who went missing on Wednesday. According to police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe the man was blamed for the girls’ disappearance.

“The community launched a search for the girls throughout the night. The two kids were found unharmed the next day, trapped in an unused toilet in that locality. They

apparently entered the toilet and were unable to open it from inside,” said Ngoepe.

He further said that in a meeting that was convened on Sunday, the community resolved to attack the victim and his family. “His house was subsequently damaged. The entire family had to be rescued by police members and are temporarily housed at the local station. No injuries were sustained and no arrests so far,” added Ngoepe.
