Task Team officers arrested on duty

Two armed task team rhino poaching officers have been arrested while on duty at AM Lodge on Wednesday.

Abel Mdluli (39), who works as a ranger was arrested alongside his supervisor Sipho Mushinini (31).

“The Hoedspruit police acted on information that was provided, upon arrival we found the suspects on possession of a hunting rifle, a norinco pistol and 35 live ammunition”, stated Hoedspruit police spokesperson, Constable Livuhani Mulaudzi.

The third suspect, Ellay Makhushe was arrested on Thursday and the firearms are believed to be the ones the use while patrolling on duty.

The three appeared on Monday before the Lenyenye Magistrate court on charges of the illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

They will appear again on January 12 before the Hoedspruit Magistrate court.
