PHALABORWA: SAMWU pickets for change

The South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) Ba-Phalaborwa leaders and municipal workers are up in arms.

They took to the streets to march and submit a memo to the mayor outlining their concerns today (Thursday 26)

Some which are:   Abuse of authority by certain officials, appointment of certain employees to act in positions for duration exceeding the period approved by law without council resolution.

They also alleged that the municipality has contravened the provisions of the amendes Labour Relation Act by making members work on senior positions without compensation.

Grievances were given a deadline of 21 working days.
