Local school principal releases a new album
A well-known Malamulele School Principal Marx Baloyi has related his 10 track album titled ' Ndzovolo'.
According to him the album talks about a man who has seen a beautiful lady in Mozambique and was told to go a pay a money for lobola for that lady.
And to his surprise all the cows for lobola in his father’s kraal were finished and he opted to go to Zimbabwe where his grandparents were coming from to look for the cows so that he might marry that beautiful lady that has touched his heart.
” This song was to encourage people about the importance of following the culture and true meaning that if you love someone you can work very hard to make sure that you marry that particular person that you love. Even in the bible Jacob worked more than Seven years just to be with with the woman that he really loved, said Baloy.
“When I knock off from school I go straight to Studio where I do my music. It’s all about managing your time.” he said when asked about how he balances his job as principal and Musician.
Being a Unionist his song ‘Ndzovolo ‘ has been receiving lots of airplay from SABC Xitsonga Public Broadcast Munghana Lonene and community radio stations such as Giyani Community Radio (GCR) and Malamulele FM known as ‘MalaFM’.
The album is Afro- Jazz . He has worked with veteran keyboardist Ellias Chauke,Refiloe Mokgalaka and Mike Baloyi Newsound Studios.
Baloyi is also a Chairperson of South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) from Phunda Maria Branch a position that he held for more that seven years.
He is a younger brother of well-known Malamulele businessman Gezani Baloyi known as ‘GV’ or ‘Van Rooi’.
Ellias Chauke, a veteran Keyboardist described Marx as Genius Musician and someone who is easy to work with.
He is a good listener. ” Marx Baloyi is someone who is passionate about Music and gives energy to his music,” he said.
Baloyi is not new to Musical Scenes he has recorded his first Afro- Jazz Music in 2009 titled ‘Thindzaribya’ which was positively received by local people.
He was born in Xikundu Village outside Giyani and he is also a principal at John Xikundu primary school.
