On day one Tzaneen Primary’s first boys’ team played and won against JJ van der Merwe Primary, 1-0.
They drew their second match, 0-0, against Rustenburg, who coincidentally also call themselves Larries. The team lost in a tight game against their neighbours from Limpopo, Pietersburg Oos, 0-1. On day two they won their match against Randhart from Alberton, 3-1. They ended up in second place in their pool.
They played in the semi-finals against Kollegepark, from Vanderbijlpark, and won 2-0. Which meant they were in the play offs for places 5 and 6. In the final match the Larries made sure to take the win and secured their fifth place with a 2-0 win over Kenmare of Krugersdorp.
The first girls’ team played four matches on day one and the results were: Draw 0-0, against Wierdapark of Centurion, another close encounter with their neighbours, Pietersburg Oos, the score was 0-0, they won against Constantiapark, 2-0 and ended the day with a win against Orion, 2-0.
On day two they played their last pool match and won against Kruinsig, 2-0, which meant they ended in first place.
In the semi-finals they lost against Rustenburg, 0-1, they had to play off for third or fourth position. In a tough encounter against Mooirivier of Potchefstroom they won 1-0. The girls ended their tournament as bronze medal winners.
Combining the boys and the girls’ effort, Laerskool Tzaneen ended overall in third place.
