TZANEEN: Suspects allegedly yell ‘voertsek’ before attempted murder

A case of attempted murder has been opened after six individuals shot at and attempted to rob a man and his mother after they withdrew money from an ATM in Tzaneen.

According to Tzaneen SAPS Communication Officer, Yvonne Moyana, at around 03:30 this morning (November 28), six individuals attempted to rob a man and his mother of money that they had just withdrawn from an ATM.

The information states that when the victims were on the way to their vehicle after withdrawing money, they noticed six individuals wearing balaclavas, of whom four were armed.

According to other reports, one of the suspects allegedly yelled “voertsek”, before they opened fire.

The victim managed to draw his weapon and fire back, and then fled.

There were no injuries and no arrests have been made.
