GEORGES VALLEY: ’26 hours without power a bloody disgrace’
'Our fridges are warm and food is getting spoiled, what the devil is going on...'
That is only one of many Facebook posts by angry residents in the Georges Valley area which are without electricity for almost 26 hours.
Some claim that they were (are) without electricity for almost three days.
Other affected areas seems to be Politsi, the Grenshoek Line, Sapekoe, Vergelegen right up to the Magoebaskloof Hotel.
‘Over the Christmas period we where without electricity for almost three days. On Sunday, the electricity went off again after the storm and we are still in the dark,’ a resident of Georges Valley told the Letaba Herald.
Another post on the group reads: ‘Good evening. On Thursday last week I reported a single phase problem at Georges Valley. I reported the problem on Friday again. The problem was not attended to. Saturday and Sunday still single phase. I reported and no response. Today we still have a problem. Please, please, please at least just send someone to check Georges Valley and Diggersrest Sawmills.’
On December 30 in 2016, a similar electricity dilemma played of in Tzaneen and surrounding areas:

Letaba Herald have not yet received any comment from Neville Ndlala, spokesperson for the GTM.
Meanwhile, feedback received from the Power Station this morning reads: ‘The fault that was causing Ebenezer to trip has been fixed. Thanks for your patience. The Rooikoppies fault was temporarily abandoned because of the unworkable condition and they will resume where they left off not so long. There are three other faults that our office will prioritize and send teams to attend as soon as the office is open, i.e. G9 where there is a broken line. The fault between ABQ5 and ABQ6 of the broken pole that affect Georges Valley, Magoebaskloof Getaway where it’s reported there’s a tree on the line and the other one is at the A29.3.2 where the lines have crossed. I hope these are the only major faults still to be attended other than the individual faults that will also be given attention. Thanks and apology’s for the inconvenience.’
Georges Valley were still in the dark around midnight on New Years day.
At around 23:04, a Facebook post read: ‘They only found a broken pole now, and won’t fix it tonight,’ At around 23:04.
