Residents of Grietjie, outside Phalaborwa experienced their first real summer storm last night, January 28.

Although it was not too severe, some residents reported that trees fell onto roofs tearing them apart.

‘We were reminded of the power of nature,’ Marilda Wiegand, resident of Grietjie told the Herald.

About 40mm of rain was recorded in a matter of a few minutes.
