No sites for liquor outlets in Maake

The chairperson of the Bakgaga Ba Maake Community Trust, Chosi Ramodike, called on the traditional leaders to refrain from allocating sites for the building of liquor outlets.

Ramodike was speaking during a meeting to present the Bakgaga Ba Maake Community Trust’s financial statement and to outline the development plans to the community.

He said sites should be reserved for community development initiatives and sports facilities.

Ramodike explained that the trust is building a Royal Palace for the new chief and they are also planning to build a community hall.

He said the mushrooming taverns in the area are not doing any good to the youth and the community at large.

“These liquor outlets are the source of social ills in the community,” he said.

He added that the success of community trusts rests on sound management, which will ensure communities benefit from funds paid monthly to the trust by the developers of Maake Plaza.

After the presentation of financial statements, Ramodike and his committee were commended for the incredible achievement and a clear demonstration of the commitment of the Bakgaga Ba Maake Trust to community upliftment.
