PHALABORWA: Twins (5) and woman (46) killed in accident en-route to wedding on R71

"During the accident, three occupants including twins (a five-year-old boy and girl) and a 46-year-old woman died instantly."

Police in Namakgale, outside Phalaborwa, are investigating a case of culpable homicide which occurred along the R71 between Phalaborwa and Gravelote road on Saturday.

According to police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, a Toyota Etios was travelling along the R71 road, just outside Namakgale, when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree alongside the road.

The family were en-route to a wedding in Nkowankowa, outside Tzaneen.

“During the accident, three occupants including twins (a five-year-old boy and girl) and a 46-year-old woman died instantly. Five others including a driver were taken to hospital with serious injuries for medical treatment,” Ngoepe added.

Police investigations continue.
