Ntiyiso Masabana from Dan Village Extension 2 (Mokgolotho, RDP side) and a Grade 10 learner from Magoza High School, has established a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO), called Rea Panda for his community.

The NPO focuses mostly on engaging the youth in sports and arts and currently has a soccer team named after the organisation.

“I solely started the organisation to keep our young people busy and away from social ills.

“I want my community to change for the better and I know we are smart kids, we just need to keep our focus on the right things.”

Currently they are focusing on soccer, music and poem, but they would like to expand to other activities such as chess, rugby and netball.

Masabana pleads to anyone who is an expert or is familiar in the other sporting codes, to come and be part of his NPO.

“I urge anyone who is willing to come and mentor us with the sporting codes to do so, so that our community can be exposed to different kind of sports,” Masabana added.

He also pleads to the community and local businesses to help with donations of soccer and netball kit, chess boards, financial assistance for transport when they are playing away games or with anything that are able to help with.

He currently has a team of four members who help him with the day to day running of the organisation.

The teenager says that when he told people close to him about his plans of starting an NPO most people did not believe him.

But it did not deter him to follow his dreams and it encouraged him to prove them wrong.
