Two mentally disabled women were raped in Namakgale, Baphalaborwa and Mokwakwaila in Bolobedu over the weekend.

In the first incident in Namakgale, a 27 year-old was walking home from church on Friday at about 18:30 when she was overpowered and raped by a middle aged man, according to Col Moatshe Ngeope.

“Meanwhile at Mokwakwaila on Saturday, a man was caught in the act raping a 28 year-old mentally challenged woman in the bushes,” Ngeope said.

The man was arrested and preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s grandmother had allegedly arranged with the suspect to sleep with the victim so that she can have a child.
