Phalaborwa: Mother arrested for child’s murder

A mother alllegedly killed her child (8) for stealing money.

The Police in Namakgale outside Phalaborwa have arrested a 31 year old woman for killing her 8 year old child.

“It is alleged that in the early hours of Thursday, 23 May around 02:15, the Police received a report that there was a child that was assaulted by her mother and got killed at Malungane Section of this village,” Col Moatshe Ngeope said.

According to Ngeope, the Police responded immediately.

“The preliminary Police investigations have revealed that the child was allegedly assaulted by her mother, using various objects accusing her of stealing money. It is further believed that the mother run away soon after the incident. The Police launched a search operation.  She was arrested during the day from her hideout in the area,” Ngeope said.

The suspect will appear before the Namakgale magistrate court on a charge of murder.
