MYD donate school shoes to learners

Mpfuneto Youth Development (MYD) continues to reduce poverty in the community of Phalaborwa through their donation initiatives.

MYD donated 29 pair of school shoes to Shiphamele Primary School learners in Lulekani Matiko-Xikaya on Tuesday 29 September.

Gideon Baloyi the founder of the organisation told the Herald that the need was identified after his team visited the school just before lockdown.

“The program is planned to be escalated to other local primary schools, to ensure that all disadvantaged learners feel the same like all other learners in the class,” Baloyi stated.

Baloyi passed his words of gratitude to Gezani Ndove Ndhambi and Tshepiso Maloka for their contributions towards the shoes donations.

Deputy Principal Chauke and other eight educators received the shoes on behalf of the school.

“We started this project after noticing that some of the village learners could not afford attending tutorial classes which are paid on monthly basis and we decided to volunteer our time to assist these youngsters, because we know in the long run they will be the one rebuilding our community.

“We also host marathons, soccer tournaments and fun walks, with the aim of keeping the youth active,” he further explained.
