Giyani CPF scoops award for best in Limpopo province

The Giyani Community Policing Forum (CPF) scooped the CPF of the Year award for being the best forum in the province during the SAPS Excellence Awards held in Polokwane recently.

Giyani CPF was one of three stations in the province that were nominated to compete for the best CPF of the Year award out of 104 police stations in Limpopo. They were judged on the basis of how they conducted their regular meetings and their effectiveness in helping the police fight crime. These also include how they effectively bring the police and community together by helping to bridge the gap between the public and the police in order to solve problems and crime challenges in their communities.

According to Sgt Ridgewell Rikhotso, Giyani police spokesperson, the Giyani CPF team has conducted safety programmes patrolling areas where grade 12 learners were camping as part of their final exam study. “They also managed to influence the Giyani SAPS to renovate the dilapidated house of a mother of five with disabilities in Nsavulani village,” he said. Rikhotso said the Giyani CPF has played a huge role in reducing crime in the Giyani CBD.
