Vossies alumna returns as music instructor

Chanté Smith is returning to her alma mater as a music instructor, sharing her singing talents with students starting January.

TZANEEN – Ben Vorster High School alumna Chanté Smith is returning to her former school as a music instructor.

The 20-year-old will join Vossie Culture to give singing lessons starting in January next year.

Smith, who matriculated in 2022, pursued a career in music, performing gigs and releasing a hit single, “Tyd,” in collaboration with Ampie Du Preez, Murray Lubbe, and the Koleski Brothers.

The song has received positive reception and radio play across the country, and Smith has also produced a music video for it.

Excited about her new role, Smith told the Herald, “It is a privilege to become part of the Vossies, and I am looking forward to an awesome time with the learners.”

Born and raised in Letsitele, she was encouraged by her parents to participate in music and drama. Smith plays the violin, guitar, and piano.

During high school, she took lessons from a professional musician in Polokwane, which helped her achieve third place in a national arts competition.

Besides her music career, Smith is currently studying accounting and has worked as a financial assistant at two local companies.

Despite her busy schedule, she promises more music in the future.
