Snake found in Kruger toilet

A tourist found a Mozambique spitting cobra in a Kruger Park toilet. Snake experts dismantled the toilet to capture and release it safely.

LIMPOPO – A tourist found a Mozambique spitting cobra inside the toilet bowl of the female bathroom at Masorini Picnic site in the Kruger National Park on Sunday, February 2.

Phalaborwa Section Ranger received a report from Phalaborwa gate reception regarding the snake.

She called some members of the Phalaborwa Snake Club that happened to be close by at Sable dam. Upon their arrival they could identify the species of snake.

The snake went deeper into the toilet bowl rim and was not visible anymore.

The snake club members had a portable endoscopy camera and the snake could be located.

The toilet had to be dismantled, and the 1.2m Mozambique spitting Cobra was captured successfully and released unharmed.
