Kruger K9 handlers get specialised gear donation
Kruger National Park K9 handlers receive specialised backpacks to enhance their anti-poaching efforts and mobility.

LIMPOPO – Kruger National Park (KNP) K9 handlers have received a donation of 35 specialised backpacks valued at over R54 000, enhancing their mobility and effectiveness in anti-poaching operations.
The backpacks, donated by The Legacy Experience Foundation (TLEF), a Switzerland-based nonprofit organisation, were handed over on Tuesday, March 4. TLEF focusses its conservation efforts within KNP and the surrounding communities, providing critical support to protect the park’s wildlife.
Since 2017, TLEF has contributed to ranger equipment, training programmes, support for the Sanparks Airwing, and advancements in anti-poaching technology.
This long-standing partnership reflects a shared commitment to conservation and safeguarding the park’s biodiversity, it said in a press statement.
The newly donated backpacks will assist K9 handlers and their trained dogs in carrying essential items such as first aid kits, water, and specialised canine equipment needed during patrols. “With criminal syndicates becoming increasingly sophisticated in their tactics and equipment, this donation from TLEF not only enhances the safety of our K9 handlers and dogs but also ensures they are well-equipped to operate effectively in the challenging KNP environment,” Sanparks stated.
