Southern Cross Schools celebrate Founders’ Day

SCS celebrated the day with music, speeches, a colour run, helicopter rides, family fun, and a strong sense of community.

LIMPOPO – On Saturday, March 8, the Southern Cross Schools (SCS) community gathered for their annual Founders’ Day, a day filled with joy, tradition and excitement.

The school kicked off the festivities with an electrifying performance by their talented drummers, setting the perfect tone for the day.

“We also took a moment to honour our school’s heritage, with inspiring speeches from various speakers who shared their wisdom and memories. Energy levels then soared as learners, parents and staff dashed through a vibrant colour run, a true explosion of fun,” said Alex Adams of SCS.

One of the day’s biggest highlights was helicopter rides for a few lucky ones. “While SCS head Sam Hamman did the honours of selecting the lucky raffle winners by throwing beanbags from the sky, the top raffle ticket sellers also had a turn to ride in the helicopter as a fabulous reward for their hard work,” said Adams.

She said that the rest of the day was pure family fun, laughter and happiness filled the field as children and parents enjoyed games, delicious food and a sense of community.

“A huge thank you to everyone who made this event so special, our organisers, volunteers, sponsors and, of course, the families who joined in to celebrate what makes Southern Cross Schools such a remarkable place.”

She thanked photographers Juanita Balt, Layla Balt, Joshua Shoebotham, Fenna Hasekamp, Robbie Hasekamp, Olivia Rinsma, Kimi Camal and Harry Stamper for capturing the day.
