Lim Premier secures investor interest at China forum

Dr Phophi Ramathuba promoted the province’s SEZs at the IIICF in China, attracting investor interest in infrastructure and development.

LIMPOPO – Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba says she is pleased with the business relations established with investors during the 116th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) and Exhibition, held in Macao, China, from June 8 to 15.

The IIICF is a globally recognised platform aimed at promoting international cooperation in infrastructure development, promoting cross-border investment opportunities and showcasing the latest innovations and technologies in the construction and infrastructure sectors.

This year’s forum drew participation from senior government officials, business leaders, development financiers and global investors from over 70 countries.

The premier used the opportunity to position the province as a key investment destination in the country, particularly highlighting the potential of the Musina-Makhado and Fetakgomo-Tubatse Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

“These SEZs are strategically located and rich in mineral and agricultural resources, presenting prime opportunities for infrastructure development, beneficiation and sustainable industrialisation,” said Ramathuba.

Ramathuba expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the forum and was encouraged by the level of interest in Limpopo’s development agenda.

“Attending the IIICF has been a significant milestone for Limpopo. We have had meaningful engagements with global investors who have shown great interest in our province’s infrastructure and tourism potential. Our SEZs are catalytic projects and partnerships formed in Macao that will accelerate economic growth and create sustainable jobs for our people. We have left China energised and hopeful for the future. This is just the beginning of a new wave of investment into Limpopo,” said Ramathuba.

The delegation included LEDET MEC Tshitereke Matibe, Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC Ernest Rachoene and Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality Mayor Edwin Maila.
