Shuma Swimming Club crowned Limpopo champs

Shuma Swimming Club dominated the Limpopo Provincial Championships with top honours, and over 10 000 points to secure the title.

TZANEEN – Swimmers from Tzaneen did exceptionally well at the recent Limpopo Provincial Swimming Championships, held from November 28-30 in Tzaneen.

Caden Sullwald claimed the Starfish Victor Ludorum with 178 points. Sophia Potgieter shone brightly, winning both the Starfish Victrix Ludorum with 184 points and best female swimmer with 874 points, while Leyton Lira earned the title of best male swimmer with 825 points.

Shamu’s Sheila Grobbelaar said the club defended its title as Limpopo champions.

“We are proud of our swimmers, from age five to 29, with fantastic swims last weekend. All the hard work over the past few months definitely paid off,” she said.

Lleyton Lira achieves the highest Hy-tek score.

Grobbelaar added that most swimmers are achieving personal best times for the season, qualifying for the level 2 and 3 Swim South Africa (SSA)-hosted galas, as well as the SSA junior nationals, youth nationals, and the South African senior nationals scheduled for March and April next year.

“We would like to thank our swimmers, parent body, gift sponsors, and the organising committee, Limpopo Aquatics, for a smoothly run gala under challenging circumstances. The effort you put in behind the scenes does not go unnoticed,” Grobbelaar stated.

Meanwhile, Tzaneen Amateur Swimming Club (Task) secured fifth place in the women’s team with 1 319.5 points, fifth place in the men’s team with 798 points.

They placed fifth overall with 2 117.5 points.
