Young Limpopo author publishes first book
Nathacia Mohlabe self-published her debut novel, which was written entirely on her phone, and already has four more books ready for release.
LIMPOPO – Twenty-two-year-old Nathacia Mohlabe from Hlohlokwe, Ga-Sekororo, has marked an important milestone in her creative journey with the publication of her first book, a project inspired by the BL (Boys Love) series she enjoys watching.
BL, which focuses on romantic relationships between two men, influenced the central message of her book.
Nathacia says writing the book was not an easy process, but she remained committed and focused. Spending time outdoors helped her develop ideas and stay inspired.
“The writing process took five months, made more challenging by the fact that the entire book was written on my cellphone,” she said.
Despite the difficulties, publishing her first book proved to be an incredibly rewarding experience. Nathacia admits she never imagined she would one day become a published author, and describes the moment as one filled with happiness and pride.
She said that she is most proud of not giving up and of seeing the project through to completion.
The editing process also played a significant role in shaping the final product.
Nathacia expressed appreciation for the work done by the editors, saying she was impressed with the results. She self-published through Minkids Book Publisher, a decision she believes was the right one and one that confirmed her confidence in the publishing path she took.
Looking ahead, Nathacia hopes readers will give her book a chance, believing that many will learn something meaningful from it. She also dreams of seeing the book reach audiences worldwide and possibly being adapted into a series by production companies.
Nathacia has since written four additional books, which are ready for publication.
She advises upcoming writers to never give up. “Every journey has a beginning, and although it may be difficult at first, perseverance makes success possible,” she concluded.
