Love locked at the Tzaneen Dam wall
Ever heard of Love Locks? Lovers lock a padlock on a chain, fence or bridge and throw away the key, symbolically locking their love.
Believed to originate in China, it is a custom that is used all around the world.
Even here in Tzaneen, some lovers locked their love, on the bridge of the damwall.
Some locks are relatively new but others have been there for years now.

There is only a few of them, but I could net help wonder if the couples are still together and when exactly they decided to lock their love.
From Moscow to Rome, fences, bridges and poles are filled with locks.
Two specific locks grabbed my attention, locked together, one can see it has been there for years.

Is the couples still together? Whose idea was it to buy the locks? What time of day was it? So many unanswered questions.
Also, now with the damwall that is going to be lifted, are these locks going to disappear?
Time will tell. If anyone know some stories behind any of these locks, we will also love to know. Email marianco@herald.co.za
