GIYANI: Elderly disabled residents receive water tank donations

The Executive Mayor of Vhembe District Municipality, Florence Radzilani, donated two water tanks to two disabled persons in Dididi village in Collins Chabane Municipality on Monday.

Since last year, the village has been facing water challenge.

The water only comes out in the morning from 4:00 to 11:30.

Both Jack Mulaudzi and Masindi Makhavuli are disabled and they each stay alone. The water tanks cost R30 000 in total.

According to Randzilani, it is the government’s responsibility to make sure that everybody gets water, as it is a basic unit of life.

“As Vhembe District Municipality we came here to visit you because we love and care about you.
“The water tanks will help you so you don’t use your pension money to hire people to go and fetch water for you,” said Radzilani.

She also promised to give a wheelchair to Masindi, because she was crawling and didn’t have someone to help her.

“Granny Masindi, your situation doesn’t only need water but you also need a wheelchair.

“We will bring it not so long,” she promised.

She also instructed the Munipality officials to visit the two just to check on their progress and their living conditions regularly.

Both Ward Councillor, Nkamukeni Munyai and Local Headman, Phinius Nyathela, of Mulendze Tribal Authority, applauded the mayor for the donations and called for other government officials and business people to emulate her.

“We are so thankful for what the Executive Mayor has done to these elderly people and may the good Lord bless her.

“We also call for other good Samaritans to emulate her,” said Headman Nyathela.
