Global event urges to #StopTheCrash
Global NCAP, United Nations, Automobile Association of South Africa, ADAC, Bosch, Consumers International, Continental, Denso, Thatcham Research, Veoneer, ZF and the Towards Zero Foundation all on board for new safety standards in Africa.
Led by Global NCAP in partnership with the United Nations Global Goals and Decade of Action for Road Safety and supported by the Automobile Association of South Africa. Live demonstrations focusing on the benefits of safety features such as Anti-lock Braking Systems, Autonomous Emergency Braking and Electronic Stability Control has been launched at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg.
The #StopTheCrash event was created to encourage African countries to adopt the international standards for safety technologies which were developed by the United Nations. The UN and Global NCAP will also like to see South Africa take the lead in assisting African countries to adopt new legislation to promote vehicle occupant safety.
“Global NCAP and the Stop the Crash Partnership strongly encourage the South African government to take a leadership role in the African continent by adopting legislation to require the fitment of #StoptheCrash technologies in all new vehicles and motorcycles. We would also advise drivers and riders to always consider safety performance when buying a car or motorbike, choosing the safest model available for their budget, especially those fitted with the latest safety systems.” – David Ward, President of Global NCAP and Chairman of the Stop The Crash Partnership.
