Asher crowned Bama talent search winner

After months of waiting Asher PK Ethans, from Nkowankowa was crowned the Bama Bora ‘Do you think you can sing?’ competition winner on Saturday at RJCC in Namakgale.

Asher outshined 12 other finalists to win a R50 000 recording deal and a chance to perform with Worship House.

He was a clear audience favourite from his first performance, as the whole hall was on their feet as he performed his song.

Music mogul, Jabu Hlongwane and gospel star, Matema Gavu were the judges of the competition and they were also impressed by his musical skills and stage presence.

Hlongwane said that he was amazed at the amount of talent the province has and he advised singers to start singing songs in their mother tongues.

The program directors were ML FM, presenter, Nkhensani Nyango and Muvhango actor, Gabriel Temudzani, who kept the audience captivated with their jokes.

The star-studded performance line-up included, Sefako, Themba Nyathi, Mercy Ndlovu, Takesure Zama Ncube, Pastor Rudolph Mabasa amongst others.

The mayor of Ba-Phalaborwa, Merriam Malatji, was in attendance and was impressed by the amount of talent in the region.

“As the municipality, we are committed to supporting our very own talent, we will continue to partner with the competition going forward,” Malatji promised.

Bora Mining Services CEO, Enock Mathebula said he was proud to be part of the initiative before announcing the winner.

One thing for sure: This is only the beginning of a great future for the young musician.
