WOMAN’S MONTH: Women should start taking care of themselves, says therapist
Massage and beauty therapist, Nonhlanhla Malangana, says that women must start taking care of themselves without feeling guilty.
She says many women feel bad when they go to a beauty salon as they are used to taking care of others, especially their spouses and children.
“I believe it is very important for all people to take time out, especially women as they always put other people’s needs above their own.
“Book yourself for a massage, facial or read a book in your own space,” she said.
Malangana is the founder of Radiance Mobile Spa and is a somatology graduate from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
She said that she regularly encounters stressed women at her salon.
She explained that many people believe that massages are for leisure only, but professionally trained therapists are able to diagnose certain health conditions, she said.

She added that massages can help with pain, headaches, blood circulation and even insomnia.
The profession of a person contributes to her stress level.
“Those working in stressful environments usually have a lot of tension in their bodies.
“I have a client who on her first appointment suffered from headaches.
She returns regularly and there has been a huge improvement,” she explained.
She started her own business during lockdown level 5 last year when hotels were closed.
She has worked at various hotels and lodges and felt it was the right time to start her own business which she is running from home in Nkowankowa.
