Another accident on the R28
While traffic officers were attending to this accident scene, another one occured just seconds later.
Two cars smashed into each other on the corner of R28 and First Street on 7 November.
This was at approximately 10:45 am and brought traffic to a standstill.
According to a traffic officer at the scene, one of the cars, a bakkie was travelling from Randfontein towards Westonaria while the other vehicle, a Mazda was travelling in the opposite direction.
It is understood that at the time of the accident, the traffic light at the intersection had turned amber.
“The driver of the bakkie tried to turn right onto First Street and apparently was under the impression that the other motorist would stop.
“Unfortunately this was not the case and they ended up driving into each other,”says the officer.
She adds that fortunately no injuries were sustained.
Meanwhile, while traffic officers were attending to this scene, another accident occurred just seconds later at the same spot when a bus drove into the back of a truck.
It is understood that that the driver of the bus was distracted by the initial accident when he drove into the other vehicle.
Neither truck or bus driver were injured.
