Accident brings traffic to standstill

This comes after a Nissan bakkie smashed into a Ford Fiesta on the R28.

An accident on the R28 near Uncle Harry’s Road House on 28 January brought traffic to a standstill when a Nissan Bakkie smashed into a Ford Fiesta.

The driver of the Ford was travelling from Krugersdorp towards Randfontein and the driver of the Bakkie was exiting the Engen Garage next to the Roadhouse when he failed to stop at the designated stop sign and smashed straight into the Ford.

According to police officers at the scene, fortunately no one sustained any major injuries.

“The driver of the Ford only sustained injuries to his shoulder and his neck while the driver of the bakkie got out unharmed.

“Things could have turned out worse considering the fact that it was rush hour and people were likely speeding home,” says the officer.

Meanwhile, Randfontein Traffic Chief Kenny Mampondo has warned against such negligence on the roads and urges all road users to practice the principles of road safety at all times.
