Take part in library’s fine free month

Residents of Randfontein can bring back their library books back throughout March without paying any outstanding fines.

Throughout March the Randfontein Library will hold a fine free month for the residents of Randfontein and urges the community to take full advantage of this initiative.

According to the librarian at Randfontein Library, Jeanine Mostert, this fine free month will be hosted by all libraries in Randfontein and not just the main Randfontein Library.

“The fine free month will give Randfontein residents the opportunity to return their outstanding books without paying any fines for late returns,” says Jeanine.

“As soon as they return their books, their names will also be cleared from the library’s black list.”

Jeanine explains that theiir 2013 fine free campaign was a huge success and 459 books were recovered during the 2013 fine free month.

A total of R5 710 worth of outstanding fines were written off during 2013.

“Therefore we want to urge the community to use the March fine free month to bring back their books and help the library to get their books back as these books are of great value to the library,” says Jeanine.

The fine free month will officially kick off on 1 March and will continue for the whole month, therefore the residents of Randfontein has another couple of weeks to find their outstanding books around the house before the fine free month starts.
