New movie shot in Randfontein
Forsaken is based on a true life story and features the top of the South African acting crop.
Lenmed Private Hospital was abuzz with activity on 27 February when a film crew descended on the hospital to shoot scenes for an upcoming movie.
The movie, Forsaken, is based on real events and is set to hit cinema screens between July and August this year.
The film features actors such as Gerhard Steyn, Marisa Drummond, Hykie Berg, Johan Scholts, David Louw, Juanita Velts and Minante Pieterse.
According to one of the producers of the movie MornĂ© Lane, the movie is based on a true story of a man who lost faith in God when things didn’t go his way.
“The story takes you into the life of a man who literally had everything in his life and was the pastor’s son.
“His daughter falls ill just when she was 2-years-old and is diagnosed with a lung disease that sees her hospitalised.
“Owing to this, the man starts questioning God and his work and starts losing faith.
“He feels that having prayed to God for all his life, something like this should not happen to him or his family and automatically becomes angry at God,” says Lane.
He adds that it boils down to a point where his daughter is taken to hospital but could not receive the necessary help.
She is then transferred to Lenmed Private Hospital where a specialist is set to perform an operation on her.
During this time, the movie takes an interesting turn and while the medical procedure is underway, the lung that had failed and was removed started functioning and was subsequently was put back into its lung cavity.
“This marks the turning point for the man and restores his faith in God.
“He comes to a point where he begins to understand that we cannot dictate to God when and how a miracle should happen.
“The movie really teaches us a lot as people that we should not only give simply because we expect to get something in return.
“It also teaches you that God shall not leave nor forsake you,” says Lane.
