Greening the West Rand

300 trees planted in Mohlakeng extension 11.

The West Rand District Municipality along with the Randfontein Local Municipality and Sibanye Gold planted 300 trees in Mohlakeng extension 11 recently.

Also present was MMC for Environment, councillor Olivia Caldeira who spoke on behalf of the Randfontein Executive Mayor, Mzi Khumalo. She expressed his vision to plant 10 000 trees annually across the West Rand. Caldeira also emphasised the importance of trees and the benefits of having a healthy environment.

Hethen Hira, a representative from Sibanye Gold spoke on behalf of the company and stated that they are pleased to be part of community projects and are also involved with similar school projects in Munsieville and Mohlakeng.

“The West Rand District Municipality appreciates this contribution,” Dennis Mangope, spokesperson for the West Rand Executive Mayor said.
